Media Multitasking. Why do we do it?
I media multitask all the time. I have no idea why I do it because it does not help me out in any way. I will be watching an episode on Netflix and then I get on my phone. When I am looking at my phone that is the only thing I can focus on. I end up missing like half of the show, and then I am so confused on what is going on. Media multitasking can lead to worse executive functioning in every day life and poor attention skills in every day tasks. So why do we do it so often? I do not know the answer, but I want to get better at not media multitasking because it does not help me in anyway. I can wait to look at my phone while I'm watching a show because normally what I'm doing on my phone isn't important anyways. I really liked how Dr. Coyne had us all put our phones in the front of the classroom the other day. It is almost freeing to not have my phone with me sometimes, and there are no distractions. It is so much easier to pay attention when my phone is not around me.
