Materialism
I have found recently that the media has made me a lot more materialistic than I used to be. After reading in my media class how people are more materialistic after seeing advertisements I realized I totally am too. One big thing that I believe makes me more materialistic is Pinterest. I will just scroll through Pinterest sometimes and look at all the cute clothes on there and then I start wanting all of the cute clothes. I don't just go shopping whenever I want for new clothes, but I find myself bugging my husband because I want a cute dress that I saw online or some new shoes. I rarely go out and actually buy them but then I have those items on my mind for a while. It is not healthy. Then I will be walking around campus and then I see the cute clothes all the girls wear and then I start comparing myself to them. It is bad. I have been trying to get a lot better at it, but it is really hard.
I totally understand! I find it really hard sometimes being on campus because a lot of girls are wearing cute stylish clothes. It is hard to not want new clothing and keep the materialistic side of me from coming out.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate. When everyone here on campus is so beautiful and fashionable, it can be difficult not to compare yourself to them. But that's where self-confidence comes in! We are all beautiful in our own way and we are especially beautiful to God.
