Reality TV

When we discussed reality TV in class this past week it really got me thinking why I watch reality TV. I LOVE reality TV. I love the Bachelor and I have even gotten into the show Married at First Sight where people literally get married at first sight. They don't get to meet their soon to be spouse until they are at the altar. I know it's a crazy show, but I love it. I feel like the biggest reason I watch reality TV is for the drama and I love people watching so what can be better than getting to watch people live there lives on TV in the comfort of your home? In class we discussed how one of the reasons people watch romantic reality TV is because of the social utility of it. I definitely find this to be true for myself. I am able to connect with people by talking about the Bachelor. I have also been to many Bachelor viewing parties, and at commercials or when the show is over we discuss what had just happened. I even stay connected with some family members from discussing Married at First Sight.
