Why I Listen to Music
Yesterday in my media class we discussed music, so I tried to reflect on why I listen to music.
Music has a power to do so many things. It can bring the spirit, it can change our moods
“For my soul deligteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads.” (D&C 25:12)
Music can be so inspiring and uplifting.
This summer I was listening to the radio and the song "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth came on and it really touched me. I know this is a weird song to touch me, but if you ignore the rapping parts the chorus is really good when Charlie Puth sings. My oldest sister died when she was just nine months old to SIDS, so that is why the chorus got to me so much. It says, "It's been a long day without you my friend and I'll tell you all about it when I see you again..." Every time I hear that part of the song I think of my sister and how amazing the reunion will be with her one day. This is one reason why I love music so much.
Music has a great way of helping us express our emotions. I agree with you that music has a way of bring the spirit and reminding us why we are here and that families are forever. Thanks for sharing such a great song :)
ReplyDeleteMusic is so powerful, and it is amazing how it can speak to us and effect us in different ways at different points in our lives. It definitely speaks to us in ways that words can't. Thanks for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI also like the song See You Again because it reminds me of people that I have loved and lost and how sweet the reunion will be when we see each other again. Music is an amazing thing. I'll listen to a song and have no idea why I like it so much until I realize that the lyrics match what I'm feeling. Thanks for your post!
